Lingam as Paramaarmaka Swarupam signifies Eswara/Atma/Sakshe in all of us.
Lingam also signifies Maanava Gamanam (human life) should reach Layam as Gamyam (destination) before a Jiva(person) leaves Sareeram(body) in the form of Mruthi(death) as Sareeram is temporary (Anityam) and is Dukkha Daayakam and further causes Nutana Sareeram(new body) in the event of a normal death without obtaining Mukti (Freedom).
The above objective can be achieved in two ways Viz either through chanting Pranava Nadam or through chanting Rama Namam as both are identical as established in the earlier message on the subject.
As regards the first way that is through chanting Om , one should chant Om by knowing its significance (Parama Artham) that Eswari in the capacity as Veda Mata is Omkara Beeja Akshari and Eswara Kari and Eswara is Omkara Moolam (origin).
As regards the second way that is through chanting Rama Namam, Rama Nama Amrutam has been originating from the lotus like face of Eswara in the capacity as Taaraka Mantram(Eswara Sakti to take back a Jiva in to Him/Eswara as Layam) since the inception of Srushthi/Jagath and this is the Truth(Satyam) as revealed by Eswara to His Manorama/Arthaanigi as Vaama Bhaagam as Parama Artham.

Omkara Mantram consists of three Beeja Aksharamulu namely A-U-M.
These three Beejamulu signify Rig Vedam, Yajur Vedam and Sama Vedam respectively. The first Beejam(A) of Omkara Nadam signifIes Srushthi(Creation)/Inhalation/Brahma and originates at Nabhi. The second Beejam(U) of Omkara Nadam signifies Sthiti(Sustaining)/ Holding breath/Narayana and takes birth in Hrudayam and joins the first Beejam. The third Beejam(M) of Omkara Nadam signifies Layam(Dissolution)/Eswara and generates in Kantham and causes dissolution to Nadam.
The first Aksharam of Rama Namam signifies the most important Beejam of Shodasa Akshari Narayana Mantram(second letter) and it signifies Agni and it takes birth in Hrudayam The second Aksharam of Rama Namam signifies the most important Beejam of Siva Panchaakshari Mantram(fifth letter)and it signifies Jalam and it generates in Kantham and joins the first Beejam and causes dissolution to Sabdam. Thus
Chanting Om = Chanting Rama
Eswara is Sarva Vyapakam, Anantam and Achintyam. Eswara is also Karuna Avataram and Chidananda Rupam.
As Parama Dayaalum , Eswara manifested on His own as Lingam as Paramaataka Swarupam on Maha Siva Ratri. Lingam as Paramaarmaka Swarupam signifies Eswara/ Atma/ Sakshe in all of us.
Lingam also signifies Maanava Gamanam (human life) should reach Gamyam/goal (destination) as Layam before a Jiva(person) leaves Sareeram(body) in the form of inevitable death(Maranam) as Sareeram is temporary (Anityam) and is Dukkha Daayakam and further causes Nutana Sareeram(new body) in the event of a normal death without reaching the destination. Lakshyam is nothing Mukti (Freedom) from Deham/Jagath before Jiva leaves it as per the order of Kaalam(Kaala Dharmam) unwillingly.
The above objective can be achieved in two ways Viz either through chanting Pranava Nadam or through chanting Rama Namam as both are identical as established in the preceding paragraphs.
As regards the first way that is through chanting Om is concerned , one should chant Om by knowing its significance (Parama Artham) that Eswari in the capacity as Sakala Nigama Artha Gocahara Kari/Veda Mata is Omkara Beeja Akshari and Eswara Kari and Eswara is Omkara Moolam (origin).
As regards the second way that is through chanting Rama Namam is concerned, Rama Nama Amrutam has been originating and ever flowing from the lotus like face of Eswara in the capacity as Taaraka Mantram (Eswara Sakti to take back a Jiva in to Him/Eswara as Layam) since the inception of Srushthi/Jagath. This is the Truth (Satyam) as revealed by Eswara to His Manorama/Arthaangi(Vaama Bhaagam) as Parama Artham. Thus chanting Rama Namam with Sri Rama Bhaavam in Hrudayam takes back a Jiva in to Bhava/Siva as Layam before death occurs.

Sareeram(body) is an essential tool (Saadhanam) for implementation of Dharmam.
Even though Manasu(mind) is a software tool as Mokhsha Kaarakam as well as Bandha Kaarakam, this software tool is to be deployed in conjunction with Sareeram(hardware) to combat Deha Moham as Deha Moha Kshymam is precisely known as Moksham.
In view of the above hard core fact Mukti(freedom) is be achieved before death occurs as death separates a Jiva(person) from Deham(hardware) and it would not be possible for Manasu to be free from the clutches of Deha Moham in the absence of Deham. How it would it be possible to renounce or neglect or throw away a thing in mind which we do not hold ?.
The four instincts which are common between animals and the human beings have to be conquered in accordance with Dharmam. This achievement would be possible when a person is alive only. Secondly a Saadhaka has to overpower Artham annd Kaamam by following Dharmam as established by Prabhu Rama by having Prabhu Rama Bhavaam as Dharma Swarupam in Hrudayam before death snatches away the hardware tool namely Sareeram(body) as per the order of Nature(Kaala Dharmam).
