An excerpt – Teton.

I have never been to Wyoming, in all these years. So, it was really wonderful that I could go to Teton village, Jackson Hole. And stay at Four Season's resort. The summer was still not over and kids were not back to school. The place was teeming with people.

It was all hustle and bustle in that tiny village. People were enjoying biking, walking the scenic trails, going up and down the mountain in the aerial trams and trolleys. Rugged people are into rugged sports, like mountain biking, hell, I can't even wear that gear. I don't know how they carry that kind of weight.

Kids were on bungee trampolines. The swings would take them high up into the air and bring them down. Parents are videoing the kids screams of pleasure. Older kids are biking with helmets on, on obstacle courses. Adults were going for fly fishing in Snake River, rafting, horse riding, so on and so forth.

Amidst all that wonderful happiness, I loved walking to the walk symphony hall one evening, which is a five minute walk from the back of the resort to listen to Mahler's 3rd symphony which is 103 minutes long. The Symphony was conducted by Mr. Donald Runnicles. As a part of Grand Teton Music festival – Leonard Bernstein 100th birthday celebrations worldwide.

(Once I knew I was going to Wyoming, I listened to the symphony ahead of time, at home, a recording of -who else, Leonard Bernstein conducting it. Then I read up as much as I can about the symphony. How many movements there are, what their themes and names are, and how extraordinary he made that first movement so long. I was surprised to see Mahler did not write for piano.)

The much anticipated evening went very smoothly. The Walk Hall is totally filled.  Happy faces all around.  I was in full and close view of the orchestra. That kind of took me sometimes out of music and into the action of orchestra. I did not mind. I just relaxed and let my mind take in, whatever it wants to. The female singer was good, the chorus was good. It was fun listening to the bum bus bum bus chant of children in the chorus. After the concert, the audience is all out on the terraces, happily discussing, -really, if the last movement is about God or Love or if both are one and the same.

Once the music is over, I took a brisk walk to a small local store, close to the Mangy moose bar, got some fruit and soft drinks. I was supposed to go 'star gazing,' but it is a little late and I did not want to go to town of Jackson and come back so late at night. Instead I simply relaxed in my room. They have already turned my bed down. Lit the fire place, made it all cozy. I simply asked for room service, had light dinner and hit the wonderfully soft plush bed - The signature of Four Seasons resort. And listened to Mahler once again on the tablet in my room.
