[racchabanda] రచ్చబండ కవితలు

No Braggart

Plato from fifth century B.C., said:

Poets need to be banished from "The Republic"

There is no way one can prove, most of stuff they say in their poetry.

Poem writers, some, to this day say: It is the divine power which gives them divine voice

To say the divine things they say in their poetry.

And asks all to follow their sayings in their wordings,

All the time promising heaven and earth, to everyone around,

Which really never happens,

And they know it. (Or don't they? Truthfully?)

But they still want us to believe, in this heavenly talk forever and ever.

It is always divinity they think, breathe and weave poetry about.

After a while it tires you. You run out of your good natured patience.

Now a days, I am more dependent on the human voices around me.

I, a common woman, of common descent from commoners.

Human warmth is what I thrive on. Their word is enough for me.

For instance, thrown out of my house, during recent roof repairing endeavors,

I roamed all over the city and consequently ran out of gas.

Before returning home, I was refueling my car,

And I hear a male voice saying  - Madam, Madam, Madam.

And I look around.

A sunburnt guy on a bicycle, is balancing himself and said,

Ma'am, you have very beautiful hair!

He repeats himself to make sure I heard him, and I gave him one of my choicest grins

Before he biked away.

I like ordinary voices going extraordinarily out of their way

Strangers they may be to me,

These are true human voices I hear; and I am a truth Sayer,

That kind of kindness is poetry to me.
