Krishna transforms our brokenness into wholeness when we surrender




Suppose an accident has broken our bones. To function properly, we need to first become healthy and whole.




Our functioning can be impeded not just by physical brokenness, but also by emotional brokenness. We can be broken emotionally by life's adversities. For example, if a relationship or a career in which we have heavily invested our emotions falls apart, we may feel utterly disheartened: "What am I living for? Why am I doing anything at all? What really counts?"




Arjuna was similarly dispirited at the start of the Bhagavad-gita (01.30). The impending war compelled him to fight against elders whom he venerated. But if he didn't fight, his immediate family members would remain in destitution or even meet with destruction. Finding no feasible course of action, he broke down and quit (01.46).




Amidst his brokenness, he surrendered to Krishna (02.07). And Krishna spoke the Gita to reveal the timeless way to wholeness. The Gita highlighted his essential identity, "You are a soul; you are a part of the whole; your fundamental function as a soul is to serve the whole." When Arjuna understood that he was a part of a divine plan to establish dharma – a plan that would ultimately work for the good of everyone – his confusion was dissipated and his composure, restored (18.73).




Similarly, when adversities break us, we can surrender to Krishna. Through the Gita and through his representatives who teach the Gita, Krishna will help us see beyond the immediate situation to the bigger picture. When we contemplate that we are indestructible souls and that Krishna is always with us, we feel peace and strength seeping into us, and can thereafter calmly discern a way ahead.




Thus, when we see our brokenness as an impetus for surrendering to Krishna, he will reciprocate and reinstate us in spiritual wholeness.

How did the Gita reveal the way to wholeness for Arjuna?

Amidst adversities, how can surrendering to Krishna help us?

Teachers and Gurus, the children you claim to be yours are kamaputras (born out of desire), but children who come to you to learn are premaputras (drawn to you by selfless love). In reality, more than your own children, these pure-hearted innocent children truly deserve your time and love. Hence teach them with love and dedication. Tyaga (Sacrifice) is the real Yoga (spiritual path). Give, and you gain. Enjoyment (Bhoga) results in disease (roga). Grab, and you lose! Recognise the truth of these axioms. There may be many amongst you who intellectually recognise their validity but have had no opportunity to translate them into action. In the Gita, Krishna tells Arjuna, "Be an instrument, O Savyasachi!" I call upon you to be the Lord's instrument and build a bridge between humanity and Divinity. Dedicate all your skill, strength and scholarship to this great yajna. Your dedicated karma truly is a yajna (sacrificial offering). In return, you will attain peace and bliss as your reward! Story: The Pond Of Milk



Once there was a king who told some of his workers to dig a pond. Once the pond was dug, the king made an announcement to his people saying that one person from each household has to bring a glass of milk during the night and pour it into the pond. So, the pond should be full of milk by the morning.. 2- Be honest in your actions regardless of thinking about others. Your honesty is related to your character.




After receiving the order, everyone went home. One man prepared to take the milk during the night. He thought that since everyone will bring milk, he could just hide a glass of water and pour inside the pond. Because it will be dark at night, no one will notice. So he quickly went and poured the water in the pond and came back.




In the morning, the king came to visit the pond and to his surprise the pond was only filled with water! What has happened is that everyone was thinking like the other man that "I don't have to put the milk, someone else will do it."




The article can have so many different conclusions, here are a couple of them:




1- when it comes to help poor people, do not think that others will take care of it. Rather, it starts from you, if you don't do it, no one else will do it.So, change yourself to the way of God to serve Him and that will make the difference.

మోహనరావు గారూ! ఆగస్టు 22న రచ్చబండలో 'మళ్లీ వనమయూరము' అని మీరు రాసారు.

చదివాక arrangement నాకు నచ్చి,  ఒకటి రెండు పద్యాలు నేను కాగితాల మీద రాసాను. నా word లో 23న  నేను Jkm's vanamayuram అని నా పద్యాలు పడేసాను.

ఇప్పుడు మీరిచ్చిన సమస్య  చిత్తుకాగితాల మీద  work out చేస్తుంటే, నేను ఆ రోజు రాసిన ఆ పద్యం కనిపించింది.  సరదాకి పోస్ట్ చేసాను. 

I won't be disturbing you anymore today. Got to go run some errands. And then practice a few measures of Beethoven.

Thanks lyla gAru. This is vanamyUramu or induvadanA. UIII UIII - UIII UU.  I have written a lot about this at one time. 

If you find any interesting ones, please let me know. I want to collect a few like this.  There are quite a few in divyanama saMkIrtana. I wrote earlier on a few without actually identifying them.

While doing that, and jotting down some lovely krithis, in my pile of papers, I saw this one.  And I got a little confused.  What?  Is this Tyagaraju! No, it is not. For a minute I was fooled.
