Hello! G. Afternoon!

Rechana's poem sounds lot better.

Yours:

దినకర కరముల - It has already gone bad. కరకర. Sounds like an osteoarthritic joint.

దివసము - O no!  Never mind the yathi!

Dear members ,
From my readings of Vedaas literature, I observe, Puranaas deviated at
many places from vedas and caused harm to human well being/open thinking.
Please shed light.
Vedas are simple to understand, admittedly sanskrit in Vedas is
more difficult and words have more than one meaning and hence one is to be
careful in identifying relevant cntextual meaning. On the pretext that
Vedas are difficult to understand, giving importance to Puranas which are
many times totally against the concepts of the Vedas is a step against
humanity. The teachings of Padma purana for the women are mean. These
teachings have no authority of the Vedas. The controversies found in
Vishnupurana, Shivapurana, Devi Bhagavata etc. are not based on Vedas.
Almost in all the Vedas, in particular in Atharva Veda (13.4.20), we find
that God is one only.. However, 3 crore (demi-Gods ISKCONians call) Gods
have been created by these Pouraniks/vaidiks/. Vedas have asserted that
idol worship is not correct (Yajur Veda 32.3). But the idols are central
to the pouraniks. Garuda Purana is the truth for the pouraniks when there
is no mention of Shraddha in theVedas. Several such examples can be given
to show that many inhuman social practices are based on the Puranas and
not found in the Vedas.

One should know how to behave and adjust himself with other people. You must talk sweetly and gently. This produces a tremendous impression. You must be polite, civil, and courteous. You must treat others with respect and consideration. He who shows respect to others is respected in turn. (Swami Sivananda)

Before Krishna can entrance our consciousness, he needs an entrance to our consciousness

In its conclusion (18.67), the Bhagavad-gita urges us to not speak its confidential message to anyone and everyone. Why this restriction?

Because Gita wisdom needs to be presented to different people according to their level of spiritual evolution.

If parents have a hidden treasure, they naturally want their children to have it. But if those children are not old enough to value it, they may squander it. To prevent this, parents may withhold information about the treasure till the right time.

Similar is the intent of Gita 18.67. The greatest spiritual treasure of immortal love is revealed in the Gita's conclusion, wherein Krishna reveals his unflinching love for us (18.65) and invites us to reciprocate with his love (18.66). Cherishing this treasure means to become entranced with Krishna, relishing him as the source of all-attractiveness and the object of eternal ecstatic love.

But many people are at such a spiritually underdeveloped stage that they don't even give Krishna an entrance to their consciousness – they viscerally turn away from any mention of God. Such people need to be presented Gita wisdom preliminarily, by just opening their minds to the possibility of life having a spiritual side. Presenting spirituality in a way that agitates people's minds is simply alienating (03.26).

Seen in this light of the need for contextually appropriate presentation, the intent of 18.67 is not to deprive people of Gita wisdom, but to present it appropriately according to their level. This compassionate intent is evident in the subsequent verses (18.68-69) that laud those who share the Gita's message to the receptive.

By understanding who needs to give an entrance to Krishna by opening their minds to life's spiritual side and who can be entranced with Krishna by entering into a life of love with him, we can share the Gita effectively.

Think it over:

Explain with an example why the Gita cautions against revealing its confidential message to everyone.

What is the Gita's conclusion?

How can we share Gita wisdom effectively?

Everything is not Krishna's plan, but everything is within Krishna's plan

Is everything that happens in our life – including things that happen because of our mistakes – all by Krishna's plan? No; it is not Krishna's plan that we commit mistakes, but Krishna's plan is resilient enough to include our mistakes.

For example, schools have a plan for students to be promoted from one level to the next. But if some students fail in a particular exam, the school's plan accommodates them too – either retake that subject or redo that level again. Either way, failed students are still within the school's plan, though the school didn't plan that they fail..

Our present material existence is like a school. Herein, we souls are on a course of multi-life education and evolution towards love for the supreme soul, Krishna, and eternal life thereof. If we mistakenly make wrong choices, Krishna doesn't reject or evict us; he continues to reside within us and helps us come back on track.

Pertinently, the Bhagavad-gita assures that even wrongdoers are well-situated if they maintain their determination to serve Krishna (09.30). By their continued service to him, they will soon become purified and situated in virtue (09.31). His assurance that the devoted will never perish stresses that his plan for our deliverance continues, irrespective of our missteps.

Significantly, his benevolent divine plan includes even those who are not devoted to him. After all, he is the well-wisher of everyone (05.29). And every soul being his eternal part, is potentially his devotee (15.07) – just their devotion is presently misdirected.

By thus understanding how Krishna mercifully accommodates our mistakes, we can stop beating ourselves up for our mistakes. Instead, we can raise our vision from our mistakes to Krishna, pick ourselves up by remembering his unfailing love for us, and march towards the supreme liberation of eternal love for him.

Think it over:

How is our material existence like a school?

How does Krishna's plan include even wrongdoers?

How can understanding the inclusiveness of Krishna's plan encourage us?
