Krishna the Flautist

1.      I gave an overnight reading of Narla Venkateswara Rao's book on Gita recently. Even though my friend said I could borrow it, I did not. Just did not want to lose the book. That kind of reading is not at all appropriate for that book. I know it. But I could not let go without reading it all together. I am getting a copy from book store.  I think Narla titled it "The truth about the Gita - A closer look at Hindu Scripture."

2.      Krishna's depiction as a flautist and a cowherd is done in a wonderful, colorful and musical way by Manjit Bawa, an artist from Delhi. I have seen the oil painting on canvas- "Krishna and the cows, 1981," as part of an exhibition called "Midnight to the Boom- Painting in India after independence" at Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, Massachusetts. I read on and off about these Indian artists, and see the color plates from the museum's publication, which goes by the same name.
