The Shadows
We already ARE everything we would like to BE.
There is no "improving" needed. What is needed is to unlearn, to take away all the cloudy games of the mind, to dispel the layers of fear, shame and guilt, to become aware of the conditioning, the beliefs, the superstitions. That is all. That is what some people call "darkness," "shadows."
Therefore as we ARE right now, with all of those "features;" we ARE not. There is not a unified presence but a multitude of "I's."
How could we think about changing the world? How could we think about changing ourselves?
We ARE not. Who is going to attempt those changes?
The mind and its beliefs. Someone who is not real yet.
We ARE imitations, conditioned minds, mostly unable to feel.
We may believe that we are feeling, but we are merely thinking that we feel..
How could we know anything if we do not know who we ARE?
I am not talking about the conditioned response: "I am a soul."
Even though that may be true, those words are of not use for someone who IS not. It is only an intellectual definition; very important for the mind to have, because then you believe "you know."
For someone who IS, those words are not necessary. BEING does not depend on definitions or concepts. It is not related with the trips of the mind.
The presence of who we ARE is clouded by the mind. Thus, the mind makes up several personalities who are continuously changing: Today "I am this," a few minutes later; someone else.
Gentle a minute ago, violent right now, sad a few minutes later and feeling guilty the next hour…
Could you BE alone and enjoy yourself? Don't you need someone to define who you ARE? To show you who you ARE? To bring the "best" of you? :-)
I am not saying that we should be alone. I am saying that someone else defines who we ARE, someone else gives meaning to our existence.
That is because we depend on the outside to BE. The outside colors and shapes our BEING. The mind takes those "teachings" and will remember them, to define us, to make us believe that we are safe…
If your mind is violent, how could you be compassionate?
By making (doing) effort to BE non-violent? By DOING something?
No! There is not DOING able to change BEING.
Our mind will be violent, no matter what we DO, no matter what we believe in, no matter how many "beautiful" experiences we may have, no matter how holy we act.
That is why, for a violent mind; any action no matter how "good" that may be, it will be tinted with violence.
If we repress our violence, still it will be there.
There is nothing we can DO about that violence. We could only be AWARE of it as it IS, as it appears. Without judgment, without a repressing thought; observe who you ARE at that moment. Don't hide in your morality, in your rationality, simply accept that who you ARE without labels.
That unconditional acceptance is the beginning of change.
That is the beginning of BEING Conscious.
You see, there are no beliefs here. No Paradise, no Samadhi, no Salvation, nothing to strive to; because that striving does not allow you to BE conscious of the "now," of who you ARE.
The pretty ideas of the future, the pretty stories of who you "could become" are not needed for the one who is AWARE.
Only the "NOW" is there. The mind does not have a chance to expand, to dream, to make up stories. You are AWAKE.
There is no hope to escape someplace, no belief to hide; but the unconditional acceptance of what is, as it is; the "now."

We cannot practice honesty. We can only allow it to happen.

Harih Om. Reposting from Swamini Brahmaprajnannada ji's wall:
___________
Although I rarely forward messages, could not resist forwarding this tongue-in-cheek one below -
*Vedantic diet* ( Slight modifications to a whatsapp forward received. Source - unknown)
With so much Whatsapp Vedanta, Youtube Vedanta, Webinar Vedanta , Zoom Vedanta , Skype Vedanta, online Vedanta around, Vedantins have become addicted to "consuming " Vedanta while walking , cooking , talking , jogging , cleaning etc
This is causing *Vedantic obesity* and *Vedantic indigestion*
Symptoms of this are as follows:
1. I know it all attitude
2. I have finished Bhagavad-Gita twice and now listening to it for third time attitude.
3. Shravanam alone is enough attitude
4. Why go to the ashram or a retreat when gurus are coming to my living room, kitchen, veranda, walking grounds attitude
5. Let us pause the class for lunch, talking on phone , for maid , for grandchildren etc attitude
6. Let me lie down on the bed and listen untill I fall sleep attitude.
7. Let me rate gurus and evaluate different sampradaya-s, in the name of being objective.
8. Let me decide my "Vedanta diet and consumption" with no consultation with a live Guru
People with one or more of the above symptoms are advised to start *Vedantic diet*
*Rx*
1.Monitor your casual munching of Vedanta audios. Do not munch Vedanta lying down or while busy with any other activity.
2. Weigh your Ego (erroneous self concept) regularly.
3. See and focus on changes in your attitude - if changes are not there, you are advised to proactively live a life of priorities, do seva, meditate (with guidance) with the appropriate medication of Shravana ( in consultation with Guru)
4. Meet a Guru and have a master check up of what you have assimilated. Be guided by the Guru about what you need to do for your self growth rather than what you want to do.
*" Vedantic obesity makes Shravanam taste so good that people think they can avoid Manana and Niddhidyasana"*
*" It makes a person skip Asana, pranayama , japa , meditation , loving everyone , caring for everyone, and gets the person to advise others all the time "*
*It makes people having popular gurus and others to have I am holier than thou attitude*
*Be aware* and restore your health

The peace or distraction, calm or anxiety that you experience today is the product of your own thoughts and deeds, and your attitude or behaviour towards yourself and others. Many take up the process of regular meditation on the name and form of God, and are able to quieten the agitations of the heart and open the way to inner realisation. Dhyanashould not be wavering from one ideal to another; nor should it be reduced to a mere mechanical textbook formula, or a rigid time-table of breathing or meaningless staring at the tip of the nose! It is a rigorous discipline of the senses, the nervous current, and the wings of imagination. That is why it is aptly said, Dhyana is the valley of peace that lies on the other side of a huge mountain range of peaks called the six foes - lust, anger, greed, attachment, pride and envy. You must climb over the range and reach the valley beyond..

Will ever the day come when Nature becomes the teacher of man, humanity his book and life his school? Youth's joyous purpose cannot be fulfilled until that day comes. Too slow is our march toward spiritual elevation, because we make so little use of youth's ardor. (Kahlil Gibran)

Q. Does my realisation help others?
Bhagavan: Yes, certainly. It is the best help possible. But really there are no others to help, for a Realised Being sees only the Self, just as a goldsmith, estimating the gold in various jewels, sees only the gold. Separate forms and beings exist only so long as you identify yourself with the body.. When you transcend this identification others disappear along with your body-consciousness.
Q. Isn't it necessary that saints should mix with people and b e helpful to them?
Bhagavan: The Self alone is the Reality; the world and the rest of it are not. The Realised Man does not see the world as different from himself.
Q. Then does a man's realisation lead to the uplift of mankind without their being aware of it?
Bhagavan: Yes, The help is imperceptible but is still there. A Realised Man helps the whole of mankind although they do not know it.
Q. wouldn't it be better if he mixed with others?
Bhagavan: There are no others to mix with. The Self is the one and only Reality.
The sage attends to the inner and not to the outer; he puts away the objective and holds to the subjective. The sage conveys instruction without words. Who is there that can make muddy water clear? But things in nature work silently.

రేపరుణిమ పూనేవట జాబిల్లీ, పూర్ణముగా

అరుణిమ పూనెదవట జాబిల్లీ!
